  • Cavs Visit The White House

The defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers finally had a chance to visit the White House after an improbable 3-1 finals comeback. As the players were walking through the White House and its outside premises, Finals MVP LeBron James had a chance voice what it means to be honored in the White House, a time where president Barack Obama’s presidency is coming to a close, sadly. “It’s just a great day for us to be in the White House,” James said to NBA.com. “With this guy (Kyrie Irving) right here with the trophy and Michelle (Michelle Obama), it means so much. It’s a very humbling experience. For me growing up in the inner city you never believed you could be a part of the White House. And for me to be here celebrating a great moment in our franchise history, I’m at a loss of words.” When it was time for the president to commemorate the team for its championship victory, even the commander and chief had to greet one J.R. Smith with a little humor. “I also before I go any further, want to give a special thanks to J.R. Smith’s shirt for showing up; I wasn’t sure if it was going to make an appearance today,” Obama said as he chuckled. “I’m glad you came. You are a very nice shirt.” This reference, of course, is when Smith partied with no shirt all over the Cleveland streets after the Cavs made a 3-1 finals comeback.  Still, even good ole J.R. had to show the president some respect. #NBAFinals #CavsvisitWhiteHouse #TheQuintessentialGentleman #BarackObama #LebronJames #Cavs #Championship #QuintessentialGentleman #LarryOBrienTrophy #KyrieIrving #31 #CavaliersvisitWhiteHouse #JRSmith

Grammy nominated R&B singer Joe releases his 12th disc entitled, #MyNameIsJoeThomas.  The disc is filled with what can only be described as some of the most confident R&B classics to be recorded in recent history featuring the super smash single “So I can Have You Back” currently available on iTtunes and other retail outlets.  “In a world where true emotions are masked, it is great to hear the pouring-out of ones heart in the truest form,” says Aisha Morris at KJLH. “So I Can Have You Back” reminds us what “Music for the Soul” is, and Joe expresses his in every word of every verse,” she adds. • Love When You’re Ready!

Now that the temperature has dropped about 30 degrees from the summer and we have set our clocks back one hour it is safe to say that we have OFFICIALLY entered into the “Cuffing Season”. For those who don’t know what cuffing season is, it is the time of year where everyone realizes that it too cold to be outside bar hopping looking for new hook up buddies. At this time people realize I should find the cutest male/female within a 25 minute radius of my house so I can have someone to consistently Netflix and Chill with. For many people under the age of 35 this is the closest thing to an exclusive relationship they will have all year… or at least until the summer comes back around. As tempting as it may be to go out and lock a cuffing buddy down I encourage you to think twice before you do so. My father once told me that a person should love when they are ready, not when they are lonely. Most of us will get lonely and rush into situationships because everyone else is doing it. Be your own person. I understand that it may be sexually frustrating, and it may make you feel like the odd one in your group of friends but it’s worth it to wait for your right partner then be detoured by your “right now” buddy! I actually get most of my new clients in the Spring time because one partner runs for freedom after the cuffing season has passed, while the other partner is stuck in their feelings because they actually got emotionally attached to that person, expecting it to last. Just remember that everyone doesn’t deserve your heart, your love or your emotions. Be wise who you give it to. You don’t have to cheapen yourself because everyone else is. Don’t be scared to be rare. If everyone can have something it’s not as valuable. There will never be a lack of attractive men or women, so love when you are ready and not when you are lonely. If you have questions about your relationship, make sure you email them to QGRomanceMENt@gmail.com #QGRomanceMENt

  • African Americans Remain Optimistic About Their Finances

Despite the economic and social challenges, African-Americans remain among the most optimistic consumer groups in the American economy.  African-Americans: Demographic and Consumer Spending Trends, 10th Edition, a recent report by market research firm Packaged Facts, found that nearly half (47%) of African-Americans think they will be better off financially 12 months from now, compared to just 37% of other Americans Affluent blacks hold especially strong convictions about how their financial future will unfold, though the abiding optimism of African-Americans transcends income levels. The reasons for the steadfast confidence of African-American consumers are many and complex.  To begin, despite the growing chasm between the very rich and the rest of American society, there are strong empirical reasons for African-Americans to believe that upward mobility remains achievable for them.  As highlighted in the Packaged Facts report, key social and economic indicators point to a significant increase in the number of middle- and higher-income African-Americans over the past decade.  During this period, the number of African-American households with an income of $100,000 or more jumped 83%, while the number of African-Americans employed in management and professional occupations grew from 3.8 million to 4.8 million, an increase of 26%.  There are now nearly two million blacks who earn at least $75,000 annually. The confidence of black consumers may also stem from the “Obama effect,” a phenomenon that among other things sparked renewed optimism among African-Americans based on their pride in the election of the country’s first black president.  A Packaged Facts analysis of trends in the consumer confidence index of Simmons National Consumer Study data has found a factual basis for this hypothesis.  In 2007 blacks were less likely than other Americans to be ranked as “highly confident” consumers (20% vs. 25%).  By 2009, the year after the election of President Obama, the positions of each segment had reversed, as 26% of blacks and just 17% of other Americans were classified as “highly confident” consumers.  By 2013, following the re-election of President Obama, 42% of black consumers were rated as “highly confident” compared to just 28% of other American consumers. More recent trends suggest that the Obama effect may in fact have been in play in recent years, at least when it came to boosting the optimism of black consumers.  The proportion of African-American consumers categorized as “highly confident” fell from 42% in 2014 to 38% in 2015 and 31% in 2016.  Nevertheless, as the Obama administration nears its end, African-Americans remain more likely than other consumers to have a high degree of consumer confidence (31% vs. 27%). The most powerful factor driving the optimism of black consumers and the relative pessimism of white consumers may lie in their family backgrounds, which in turn are partly the product of history and generational experiences.  Research shows that consumers who perceive that they are better off than their parents feel more positive about their economic circumstances today and more optimistic about their prospects in the future.  Johns Hopkins University researcher Andrew Cherlin has found that poor and middle-class blacks have a higher likelihood of comparing themselves to parents who are worse off than they are, whereas working-class whites—whose fathers may have enjoyed high-paying blue-collar jobs a generation ago—are more likely to perceive that their parents were better off than they are.  These different reference points make black consumers feel better off, and cause their white counterparts to feel worse off, than their parents. • Vanderbilt University Rape Trial Pending

A trial date is potentially being sought for a third ex-football player Brandon E. Banks of Vanderbilt University who is charged with rape according to The Tennessean. Already, felony charges are pending while two other former football players have been sentenced to prison. However, Bank’s lawyers have been working on a plea deal to avoid another trial. Still, on Wednesday, Nashville District Attorney’s Office spokesman Ken White said prosecutors would ask to set a trial date, which may be June 17. “We’ll get a  trial date, but we’re still be discussing possible settlement,” Banks said. Nashville lawyer Jim Todd, said setting a trial date means the discussion, in fact, may not be successful. But it could be a negotiation tactic. “It means that the state’s plea bargain offer, and the defense’s plea bargain offer, are very far apart, and it does not appear they will be closer together,” Todd said. On June 23, 2013, an alleged sexual assault happened, and four former players were charged in the rape. Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg are serving 15 and 17-year prison terms respectively. #Football #TheQuintessentialGentleman #NCAA #VanderbiltUniversityrapecase #BrandonVandenburg #QuintessentialGentleman #VanderbiltUniversity #CoryBatey
