NEON has officially dropped the first trailer for The Wrong Girls, a wildly chaotic sci-fi stoner comedy. Directed by Dylan Meyer in her feature directorial debut, the film follows Frankie (Kristen Stewart) and Molly (Alia Shawkat), two codependent, weed-loving best friends living paycheck to paycheck and bong rip to bong rip.

Just as adulthood begins to knock on the door, with Molly’s boyfriend asking her to move in, their aimless routine is completely derailed by a massive case of mistaken identity.

Frankie is accidentally handed a briefcase full of glowing, mysterious vials containing an experimental psychedelic drug. Naturally, the duo samples the substance, which unexpectedly grants them lingering supernatural telepathic abilities.

The twist? They can suddenly hear the inner thoughts of their pet cats, hilariously voiced by Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani. However, the trip quickly turns dangerous when white-suited Danish villains track them down to get their property back, viewing the girls as entirely disposable human test subjects.

Stewart and Shawkat anchor the film as the core “bonehead” duo, with Rogen and Nanjiani lending their voices to the cats. The Wrong Girls also features Kate McKinnon and Geena Davis as scientists, alongside Tony Hale and Zack Fox.

Academy Award nominee LaKeith Stanfield also joins the cast, portraying “Not Metal Head Dave,” a for-hire action man caught up in the crossfire of the criminal conspiracy.

The Wrong Girls hits theaters nationwide on August 14. Check out the trailer.
