More than a decade after his last stint behind the camera, Chris Rock is officially back in the director’s chair. A24 has released the first official trailer for Misty Green, an upcoming Hollywood-set drama written, directed by, and co-starring Rock.
The film is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September before hitting theaters.
Misty Green stars Rosalind Eleazar as the titular character, a talented actress whose promising Hollywood breakthrough hit a wall due to personal struggles and industry pitfalls. Years later, she gets a chance at a second act—though navigating the comeback is far from simple.
Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya stars alongside Eleazar as her unpredictable brother, whose presence complicates her attempts to get her life and career back on track. Rock himself appears on screen as an old acquaintance and director from her past who offers her a pivotal role and a potential lifeline in his new project.

Beyond Eleazar, Kaluuya, and Rock, Misty Green also stars Adam Driver, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, and Anthony Anderson.
Misty Green marks Rock’s first directorial feature since his critically acclaimed 2014 comedy-drama Top Five. Much like Top Five, which also premiered at TIFF and explored celebrity, artistic frustration, and self-reinvention, his latest project returns to the pressure cooker of show business.
Misty Green is slated to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this year. It opens in theaters this October. Check out the trailer below.
With A24 backing the project and a powerhouse cast leading the charge, Misty Green is positioning itself as one of the most anticipated titles of the fall festival season.
