Amazon MGM Studios has released the sleek first teaser trailer and official poster for The Thomas Crown Affair, the highly anticipated romantic heist thriller directed by and starring Oscar-winning actor Michael B. Jordan.
Marking Jordan’s sophomore directorial effort following his critical and box-office triumph with Creed III, the film gives a suave, high-energy reinvention of the classic cinematic property. Featuring the intriguing tagline, “Revenge is a work of art,” the film combines high-stakes adrenaline, sophisticated sartorial swagger, and sensual cat-and-mouse suspense when it hits theaters on March 5, 2027.
For Jordan, bringing The Thomas Crown Affair back to the big screen has been a passion project a decade in the making. First approaching MGM with the concept back in 2016, the multihyphenate star has frequently spoken about growing up obsessed with the 1999 film adaptation starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
“I’ve been daydreaming about making this movie for years,” Jordan shared during an early presentation of the footage at CinemaCon in April. “I watched the 1999 version when I was 12 years old and was completely hooked by the style, the intelligence, and the thrill of it.”
The original 1968 classic, directed by Norman Jewison, famously starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway as an adventurous, wealthy bank robber and the glamorous insurance investigator determined to catch him. In Jordan’s reimagining, scripted by Drew Pearce and Jason Hall, the narrative updates the heist mechanics for today’s digital landscape, centering on Thomas Crown, a brilliant, thrill-seeking billionaire who steals high-value fine art not for monetary gain, but for the sheer thrill and a deeper, hidden motive.
Adria Arjona stars opposite Jordan as the brilliant, sharp-witted investigator who sees right through Crown’s charm, setting off a dangerous, highly romantic game of tactical wits. Joining the lead duo are Lily Gladstone, Kenneth Branagh, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, Ruth Negga, and Paapa Essiedu.
Behind the lens, Jordan assembled a powerhouse creative team including Oscar-nominated cinematographer Bradford Young and Grammy and Oscar winner Jon Batiste, who composes the film’s original score.
Produced by Jordan through his Outlier Society banner alongside Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment, the film represents a major theatrical commitment from Amazon MGM Studios. Rather than routing the high-profile title directly to streaming, the studio is locking in an exclusive global theatrical run, including IMAX formats, on March 5, 2027.
