Video game fans and action movie lovers, it is officially time to get hyped. Paramount Pictures, Legendary, and Capcom have just unleashed the full-length trailer and brand-new posters for the highly anticipated Street Fighter reboot, and the live-action World Warrior Tournament is looking absolutely explosive.
One of the most talked-about elements of this upcoming adaptation is its incredibly stacked and diverse ensemble cast. Hip-hop icon and television mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is stepping into the ring as the heavy-hitting boxer Balrog.
He is joined by a roster of talent bringing the classic video game characters to life, including Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as the mysterious Chun-Li, and Jason Momoa taking on the wild, electrifying role of Blanka. Rounding out the heavy hitters are major names like David Dastmalchian as the villainous M. Bison, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes as Guile, and Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma.
Directed by Kitao Sakura (The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal), the film takes audiences back to 1993. The narrative follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken, who are reluctantly thrown back into combat when Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.
The trio must attempt to put their past grudges aside and team up to take down the dangerous Shadaloo criminal organization led by M. Bison. However, behind the tournament lies a deadly conspiracy that will force the fighters to face off against each other and their own inner demons. If they fail? It is “Game Over.”
The action-packed trailer leans perfectly into the over-the-top energy of the beloved video game franchise, ensuring fans get exactly what they have been waiting for.
The footage highlights several iconic fighting styles and signature attacks, giving audiences a thrilling first look at Guile’s Flash-Kick, Zangief’s Spinning Piledriver, and Chun-Li’s legendary Spinning Bird Kick. The trailer caps off with the ultimate fan-service moment: Ryu finally unleashing his signature “Hadouken” fireball.
If this first look is any indication, audiences are in for a wildly entertaining, action-packed ride. Street Fighter is officially set to hit theaters everywhere on October 16.
