Jordan Peele’s Horror ‘Him’ Teaser Shows Marlon Wayans Pushing a Quarterback to the Limit

Marlon Wayans stars in Jordan Peele’s new horror film Him, a chilling tale of ambition, sacrifice, and psychological terror.
Him - Marlon Wayans

Marlon Wayans is taking on a whole new role in Jordan Peele’s latest horror film, Him, and it looks like he’s going to be pushing some serious boundaries. In the first teaser released for the film, Wayans plays an aging football player who takes an up-and-coming quarterback under his wing, but not in the way you’d expect.

Instead of your typical training regimen, Wayans introduces a far more intense—and eerie—approach to success.

The trailer, which dropped after its debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, teases a chilling look at the psychological and ritualistic violence that runs throughout the film.

In it, Wayans tells the young quarterback, played by Tyriq Withers, “Talent is how hard you’re willing to work,” followed by, “I’m never good enough, that’s how great people think. So you’re going to have to ask yourself, ‘What am I willing to sacrifice?’”

The film follows the story of an upstart quarterback who is taken in by an experienced player (Wayans) to learn about what it truly takes to make it in the competitive world of football, no matter the cost. But as the trailer suggests, the lessons taught go beyond physical training, delving into the darker, more sinister aspects of ambition and the price of success.

The film, directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Peele’s production company Monkeypaw, is set for a theatrical release on September 19. The cast also includes Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, Akeem Hayes, and Tierra Whack. The script, written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, was previously featured on the Black List.

Wayans shared the trailer on his Instagram with a cryptic caption: “Bro… it’s different,” giving fans a glimpse into just how unique this horror flick is shaping up to be.

On top of Him, Wayans is also working on Scary Movie 6, which he’ll co-write and star in, slated for release in the summer of 2026.
