Heads of State

Idris Elba is taking on a new role as the UK Prime Minister in the action-packed comedy Heads of State, which hits Prime Video globally on July 2, 2025. The film is an explosive ride that brings together two unlikely allies in a race against time to save the world.

Elba stars as Sam Clarke, the UK Prime Minister, who’s locked in a not-so-friendly rivalry with U.S. President Will Derringer, played by John Cena.

Their rivalry is so intense that it threatens the “special relationship” between the two countries. But when both leaders become the targets of a ruthless foreign adversary, they have no choice but to set aside their differences and team up. Together, they’re joined by MI6 agent Noel Bisset, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, to uncover a global conspiracy that could shake the entire free world.

Elba and Cena, who previously worked together in The Suicide Squad, reunite for Heads of State, but this time, they’re not trying to kill each other… well, probably not.

Directed by Ilya Naishuller, the filmmaker behind Hardcore Henry (2015) and Nobody (2021), Heads of State also stars Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Richard Coyle, Sarah Niles, and Paddy Considine.
