Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the January 20 inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

However, former President Barack Obama will be present, alongside former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, as well as their respective spouses, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.

“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” said the office of Barack and Michelle Obama in a statement.

No reason was provided for her decision, which makes the second recent occasion where she has opted out of a gathering of former U.S. leaders and their spouses.

Last week, Michelle Obama also skipped the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter in Washington, D.C. Former Presidents Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, and their spouses were in attendance, with the exception of Michelle Obama.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the U.S. Capitol and marks a significant moment in the country’s political transition.
