New Bob Marley Biopic Trailer Drops; Marley Album On The Way

The much-awaited trailer of the Bob Marley biopic trailer has finally dropped.

On Thursday, Paramount released the first trailer of Bob Marley: One Love, which is the biopic that stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, highlighting the life of the late reggae international superstar.

When folks finally get to watch it, the trailer will show the stages of Marley’s life, dating back to his Jamaica beginnings all the way up to his rise to prominence as a global icon. There are scenes of Marley showcasing his talents on stage to the singer chilling with his family, painting the full scope of his life.

Additionally, the trailer sets the scene of his assassination attempt, which he survived. In the end, viewers are left with the phrase, “One love, one heart, one destiny.”

Starring as the great Bob Marley is Ben-Adir, and he is paired with Lashana Lynch, who will be playing his wife, Rita Marley. King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green will lead the highly anticipated biopic, with Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers, and Terence Winter having the responsibility of writing the screenplay. Ziggy Marley, Marley’s son, was tasked with a producer role in the project. He showcased a little preview of the biopic at this year’s CinemaCon, according to Variety.

“It’s great to be here today on behalf of this movie about my father,” Ziggy Marley said at CinemaCon. “I’m here as a producer of this film, but also as a steward of my father’s incredible legacy… this message of unity and love is as urgent as ever. …People will deepen their connection to Bob and honor Bob in the right way.”

Folks can deepen their connection with Marley even more. Africa Unite, a posthumous album celebrating the fusion of reggae and afrobeats while paying homage to the Reggae icon’s greatest hits, is scheduled to release Aug. 4, according to Cision PR Newswire.

The album will feature “inspiring collaborations between Bob Marley’s classics and a stellar line-up of contemporary African musicians.” The ten-track classic will include Sarkodie, Tiwa Savage, Teni, and Oxlade, who will all be announced before the album’s release. All these artists will bring unique artistry, paying homage to Bob Marley’s influence.

With his music being ageless, transcending borders and generations, this project will invite listeners to an enchanting musical journey, from the rendition of Waiting in Vain to “Stir it Up.”
