Bel-Air may be a dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but the series has always honored the show that built its foundation. And in Episode 4 of the final season, the reboot finally took on the moment fans have waited for: the legendary Apache (Jump On It) dance.

Originally performed by Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro in Season 6 of the classic sitcom, the high-energy routine to The Sugarhill Gang’s Apache (Jump On It) has lived in pop culture history for nearly three decades.

So when Jabari Banks and Olly Sholotan stepped into that moment, expectations were sky-high. They delivered and then some.

In Bel-Air’s fourth episode, Will and Carlton find themselves at a college party, and in the middle of the chaos, they launch into the exact choreography fans know by heart.

But instead of playing it for laughs, the reboot treats the routine as a joyful nod, a celebration of Black pop culture, nostalgia, and the brotherhood forming between the two characters.

As the cast later told TVLine, this was the homage they’d been waiting for. They knew it would come, and they came prepared.

After the episode aired, Banks and Sholotan doubled down on the excitement, posting a behind-the-scenes rehearsal video on social media.

The clip features the two practicing side-by-side with footage of Smith and Ribeiro’s original version intercut throughout. It’s the perfect blend of past and present, a reminder that Bel-Air is not trying to replace its predecessor, but expand its legacy.
