Thousands made the pilgrimage back to Accra, Ghana this December, with the self-described “Diasporans” celebrating The Year of Return, the 400 year anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to Jamestown, Virginia.
Not missing a “beat,” Beats by Dre partnered with Director Daps to do a social media sweepstakes, gifting a few lucky supporters with the latest Beats products.
If you don’t know Daps … your ears certainly do. That due to the super director being behind the work of Cardi B, Migos, DJ Snake, Forest Whitaker, Davido, and many more. He met one-on-one with fans at premier Ghana hot spot 1 Oxford Street, as part of the partnership with Beats by Dre.
This marked one of the brand’s very first placements in West Africa and a milestone for other Diasporan creatives involved like Marsh Boak, Savannah Britt, and Ime Umoh.
