  • Quintessential Grocery Lists to Help You Get Ripped

If your fitness goal is to get ripped and maintain a toned body, you are probably spending most of your life in the gym. However, the gym isn’t the only place you need to focus your attention. In order to increase muscle mass, you will also need to spend time in the grocery store, picking out the right foods for a balanced diet. Check out these grocery lists that can help you achieve the toned body you’ve always wanted. The Get-Ripped Grocery List While you’re conducting your strength-training, it is important that you create a workout and diet plan. Hitting the gym and pumping iron simply won’t be enough to promote your muscle mass or create the ripped look you want. Therefore, you should head to the grocery store with this shopping list for muscle-building foods. Eggs are constantly fighting for their position as a healthy food. However, they have been scientifically proven to build muscle fast. Egg yolks specifically can act as steroid hormones and promote muscle contraction and growth. Protein such as 97% lean ground beef, fish, and skinless chicken breasts can help to build, repair and maintain muscle tissue. You should be eating 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per pound of lean body weight. Bananas can increase the level of glycogen in your muscles and prevent them from breaking down. The potassium found in bananas can also increase muscle contraction. Avocados are a great food for any diet. It helps to maintain fat in the right places and provides a toned core as you build more muscle. The Cardio Grocery List Cardio and strength-training go hand-in-hand if you want to get ripped fast. You should be incorporating at least 45 minutes of cardio exercises twice a week in order to gain the best results. 30 minutes to an hour before cardio, you should try to eat one of these foods. Oats have a low-glycemic index and an impressive amount of fiber to help regulate blood sugar levels. This will help you feel more energized and ultimately run longer and faster. Beetroot has been found to improve muscle efficiency and promote faster runs. Researchers at St. Louis University found that athletes ran 5km faster after eating beetroot. Almonds are one of the best food choices for runners as they are light and easy to eat. They also promote the flow of oxygen through your body and can help you breathe right during a run. The Number One Ingredient on Your Grocery List One important aspect to remember throughout your day is to stay hydrated. Water is the most essential nutrient in any exercise and should be your number one priority for any grocery list. It transports oxygen to your muscles to promote muscle mass, and also allows for the movement of all nutrients throughout your body. Water can also create a more efficient metabolism and acts as the last puzzle piece for getting ripped and maintaining a toned body. Next time you head to the store, remember these lists to help you create a nutritional diet just for your muscles. Written by Jennifer Dawson #Fitness #Gym #Workout

  • How to Gift Lingerie For The Holidays and Get it Right

It’s the holiday season and we know you’re probably scratching your head on what to get that special lady in your life. Should you get her that bag that she keeps hinting that she wants or that perfume that she has to try whenever you walk into Saks Fifth Avenue? Here’s a thought. How about you get her something that will look great on her and you will love to see her in? Yes, get her lingerie. But where do you start? We spoke with lingerie expert and founder of Anyalust.com, Krystle Kotara, who has provided us with tips on how to pick out lingerie for your special lady this holiday season! If you’re a fan of sexy lingerie on your woman, You’ll love watching porn videos at www.tubev.sex and other adult sites. Find out her size Instead of asking her, sneak into her lingerie drawer and look on the tags of her bras, panties, negligees, etc to see what size she wears. This will be tremendously helpful, as you won’t have to do any guessing. Also, look to see what size her dresses are if you’re shopping for lingerie-inspired outfits that she can wear out to dinner. When in doubt, choose something with a flexible fit On the fence in regards to size? You can’t go wrong with a gorgeous kimono robe. Not only are robes universally flattering, but they are also very simple to gift! Sized as small, medium, and large without much of a restriction on fit, there’s no doubt that she’ll love anything that you select. The sash wraps around her body and can be adjusted to fit however she’d like. You can also gift playful bedroom accessories, where you don’t need to worry about size at all. Identify her style This is important – don’t assume that what you like, she likes. Remember, lingerie is the gift that keeps on giving. Give her something that she is sure to love and feel confident in, and you’ll both reap the rewards. 😉 How to know what to gift? First, take note of her style preferences while searching for her size in her lingerie drawer. Is she a thong girl or a boyshort girl? Do most of her bras have padding, or are most unlined? What kind of color palette is she into? If you’re completely unsure, it might be wise to take some style tips from somebody like Daisy Dillon on Babestation, who never fails to exude sex appeal whenever she’s on camera. Second, take inventory of her closet. What she wears on a regular basis will also help you determine her lingerie style. Does she like to wear feminine outfits, perhaps with floral patterns and embellishments? She might like romantic lingerie in soft, pastel hues with floral lace. Or is her style more femme fatale, with figure-hugging dresses, stilettos and other sexy silhouettes lining her closet? She might like more seductive lingerie in black, red or deep jewel tones, that could be sheer, strappy, or have cut-outs. Is her style more casual? Try no-nonsense yet sexy pieces in neutral hues, like a jersey cotton bodysuit or a streamlined silk teddy. Tie your gift to a memory (literally & figuratively) Gifting her lingerie will mean even more if it’s tied to a memory. For example, if you once experimented with her submissive fantasy and it was an incredible experience for both of you, get her something like this beautiful handcuff bra. Be sure to include a note that reminds her of that special night. Additionally, if you both like kinky sex, you might even want to enjoy an adult video from a website such as collegeporn.xxx together to inspire your next bedroom rendezvous. Enjoy a glass of whiskey and start shopping! Then, enjoy the lingerie together while taking it for a spin with an unforgettable date night, and don’t forget a sensual playlist to set the mood. Make sure you shop Anya Lust today! #Gifts #Lingerie

  • Why Your Suit Doesn’t Suit YOU

As the owner of a custom clothing company, it’s easy for me to sit back and just tell everyone to commission their own custom garments. However, it’s not a luxury that everyone can afford, so let’s take a look at how to steer clear of a bad fit when buying off the rack pieces. The very first obstacle to overcome is just understanding that in order for some areas to fit well, there will be concessions in terms of fit with the others. Often times a consumer will purchase a garment which fits the chest or stomach region, but may miss a key fit elsewhere. This is quite common since suit companies will try and create generic sizes that fit as many customers as possible. And with said, let’s take a look at the two most prevalent and commonly misworn pieces. Jacket A suit jacket or blazer will be the most immediate item that everyone sees; therefore they will quickly notice the fit of the chest an d stomach in your garment. Although slimmer fitting pieces are ubiquitous now, there seems to be a blurred line separating slim fit from simply too tight. In case you’re unsure, here are a few tips to keep you away from the danger zone. If the jacket pulls away from the chest or buckles mid-lapel, the chest is too small. It’s also a giveaway if your shoulders are bulging out towards the front of the jacket. Also, if the edge of your jacket buckles at the top of your arm (see below), then the shoulders are too wide. If you find that the jacket puckers at the back of the neck, it just means your shoulders are sloped or your arms fall very forward. However, this does NOT mean that anything is wrong with your body, it’s just that ready to wear (RTW) suits are made for the masses and have a much straighter shoulder line with very little break. The sleeve and jacket length are defined by the wearer’s preferences but I will give you updated rules of thumb in case you’re unsure. If your shirt sleeve falls to your thumb knuckle (base of the wrist) then your jacket sleeve should rest slightly above that. You should show a minimum of 1/4″ of the sleeve but no more than 1″, and that’s if wearing French cuffs. The jacket length should fall right at the bottom of your crotch line or at the bottom of your front pockets if wearing slacks. This will allow for a more modern look without coming up too short. Pants Pants are unfortunately an afterthought for most men, especially when it comes to dress pants. As I mentioned earlier, we are navigating through a period of slimmer garments and are coming across more and more gents with ill-fitting pieces. A streamlined tapered pant shows well, but it should never be tight to the point of not being able to sit down or fit anything in your pocket. Your pants should also not be large enough that both legs can fit on one side. Ideally, you want the width of your pant to be structured where the cuff covers the top line or opening of the shoe. When it comes to length, the ever-present rule of thumb is that your pant leg should be long enough to allow for a very slight divot (break) in the pant. This is depicted in the far left image below. However, today’s gents are showing a bit more ankle which was brought about by Tom Ford and the European influence. These days showing skin is okay, but only to a certain extent. We all have ankles, and that’s fine, but people may not want to see the hair on your legs whilst seated in a meeting. It’s similarly uncouth to see dress pants pooling at the bottom of one’s leg, so identify a good length that works for you and stick to it! The very last element of wearing pants that I’ll cover is one this is commonly overlooked. This happens to be the waistline. Simply put, if you can’t wear your pants without a belt, Your Pants Don’t Fit! Pants with waists that are too large lead to material bunching and gives you a disheveled appearance. Instead, opt for no belt loops, waist adjusters, suspenders (braces), or have the pant altered at the problem area. Understanding all of these nuances will completely change your relationship with suits; especially ones that are purchased “off the peg”. • Author and Vegan Restauranteur Ronen Seri Talks Men Going Vegan

The popularity of plant-based diets may be on the rise, but they are still overwhelmingly taken up by women. Meet Ronen Seri, co-founder of Blossom (New York favorite vegan hotspot) and author of The Blossom Cookbook. This book will allow vegan foodies and lovers an opportunity to create their own meals using some of Blossoms top recipes. In our exclusive interview with the “blossoming” entrepreneur, you will find all of your answers about veganism including why there’s a lower number of men who are vegan compared to women, why it’s time for men to go vegan, and how they should make the switch. To begin committing to the vegan lifestyle, you can subscribe to vegan food boxes in the UK. Tell us a little bit about your business and your core values. I find my self-attracted to two things; Business in its simplest form, and questioning the nature of the mind which includes art. I feel passionate about how we treat one another and suffering in any form, but especially to that of animals. It pains me to see what they are subjected to. What inspired you to start your business? I love food. I am a vegan for animal reasons and I love business. I made the choice to become Vegan in the 90’s when it was not as mainstream as it is today. I saw a need at the time and opened Blossom in 2005 to create a finer dining experience for people to enjoy great flavorful food without harming animals. Marrying my passions for business and opening one that hopefully aid in bringing an awareness to animals has been a great source of joy for me. Hearing how much people enjoy my restaurant gives me a sense of accomplishment. In your opinion, why do you believe there’s such a lower number of men who are vegan compared to women? I think the reason is simple. Boys are brought up to be “strong and manly” and woman are to be more maternal and nurturing. Those fundamental expectations imposed from childhood pervades through our society. The male hormone, testosterone, is associated with aggression and strength where the female hormone, estrogen, is associated with sensitivity and empathy. Here, the perception is that men generally associate being Vegan with weakness and might be concerned with the image they portray- like not manly enough if they are vegan. Why do you feel it’s time for more men to make the switch? Showing sensitivity to others and caring is actually what will make you a better man! Generosity and kindness is a sign of strength, not weakness. You can also be very strong, healthy, alert and in BETTER shape with a Vegan diet. In fact, most people report feeling more energy and feel stronger and more youthful. What recommendation could you give to men who are interested in making the switch? Beyond the animal reasons, the health benefits are tremendous. Ironically, when people become sick or are diagnosed with cancer, most dietitians recommend a vegan diet. Don’t be afraid that you are missing anything in your diet. On the contrary, you can google myth busters as well as substitutions for certain vitamins and proteins that you might be concerned about. If you workout a bunch, you can get protein from many more sources than you might think. In fact, research shows that the American dietary recommendations for daily protein intake are WAY more than the body needs, regardless if you are vegan or not. What is your recommendation for fitness-conscious people who want to become a vegan, but are afraid of losing muscle mass or stamina? Don’t worry, you will see that you have a lot more stamina as a Vegan and better health, guaranteed. Also look at some powerful athletes who made the switch. The epitome manly is Brad Pitt – he is vegan! The most powerful animals on earth elephants, hippopotamus, gorillas are plant eaters. I must mention that one of the World’s strongest men, Patrick Baboumian, is a VEGAN. Bar inside Blossom Columbus Do plant-based foods build muscle? If so, how? I read a fantastic article that I believe simplifies the process of building muscle. It boils down to having all the right amino acids (building blocks of protein) in your diets, and all of the plant proteins have these. As for the exact process itself, “When you understand how muscle is built, you will realize those animal products are not necessary, and they could actually have an adverse effect on your health. Muscle size only increases when two conditions are present: First, you stimulate growth by consistently engaging in resistance training that exerts stress on muscle fibers, creating micro-tears in them. Second, you need to eat enough calories to support muscle repair and growth, a small but vital proportion of which must consist of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Amino acids help us recover from training, and they help damaged muscle tissues repair and grow.” What three tips can you offer our readers who are looking to become stronger, or gain mass and muscle on a vegan diet? Continue what you are doing in your workout routine. There is no need to change a thing if anything you might see that you have more energy! Be sure to eat a complete diet that has sufficient protein, carbohydrates, the proper fats, fruits, and vegetables. This way you can get natural sources of iron, D3, and essential oils from foods. But feel free to buy these if you are unsure or unable to easily get them from foods. In order to bulk up and add muscle mass, you will need to do weight training that is aimed at tearing muscle fibers so that they rebuild larger. The best way to accomplish this is two ways; doing explosive powerlifting (low reps, heavy weight with explosive contractions) and being sure that the eccentric part of your reps are done VERY slowly. A little technical here but to explain – the concentric phase of a rep is the flexion of the muscle like the curl up portion a bicep curl, whereas the eccentric phase is the lengthening with tension – the downward motion of a bicep curl. Studies show that the lengthen with tension is what causes a greater muscle micro tear than on the concentric phase of contraction. I’ve heard rumors that it can be a bit expensive going vegan. Do you think it’s possible to be vegan on a budget? I actually think it is the other way around. Meats, fish, and dairy are very costly. When I am away, I go to many restaurants that will make something for me and charge me less. Also, most things you will buy to eat are not expensive, such as grains, beans fruits, and vegetable. If you want richer food, you can make vegan creams from nuts and other fresh ingredients that will be better for you and are generally cheaper. Your book, The Blossom Cookbook will allow foodies and lovers an opportunity to create their own meals using some of Blossoms top recipes. What is your go-to meal that you think even people who aren’t 100% vegan should try if they are looking to go vegan? Yes, Blossom cookbook can be a great guide for wonderful interesting dishes that you can make at home. You will be surprised how full of flavor they are yet so much healthier than most diets. You can make simple dishes that will satisfy or get creative with some more time. Our fan favorite is our risotto that I have had the pickiest foodies try and would never know that it was vegan. Same goes for many of our dishes, but the risotto is my recommendation to starter! What do you think the most positive result of veganism is? The most positive result of veganism is living a life which is more compassionate, and therefore closer to your simpler happier self. The result happens to be healthier and physically energizing so it is a win-win. What advice would you give to someone else who is thinking about setting up their own vegan business/company? Mmmm…Good question! Run the company as any other good company; have a vision that is based on something that you are passionate about. From there, create the best products. I strongly advise not to preach your cause but rather focus on setting the example that we can live without the notion that we need to kill others to look better, be healthier etc. This point will be exemplified by the sheer result of your creation. Be proud to offer something that is great for us and therefore the environment which is also us- not separate from us. Get your copy of The Blossom Cookbook here and if you are in New York make sure you check out his newest location on Columbus. #Fitness #Vegan

  • Dupré “DoItAll” Kelly Talks Business and Politics in Hip-Hop

The Quintessential Gentleman Magazine speaks with a hip-hop icon who is using his life experiences to create change. Dupre Kelly, known as “Do It All”, is one-third of the legendary rap group Lords of The Underground. They are known for their hits Chief Rocka and Tic Toc and admired by the likes of Redman, Pete Rocks, and Nas just to name a few. Kelly, a current resident of Newark, New Jersey is ready to lead by example and show the world that hip-hop is political and has been fighting against injustices for years. Check out our interview with Dupre “Do It All” Kelly, a front-runner for 2018’s Newark New Jersey Councilman at Large. Dupre Kelly, we are aware of the presence that your group the Lords of the Underground brought to the Hip-Hop community. How did your upbringing contribute to the rise of the golden age of hip-hop? I believe the way you learn something is the way that you teach it and bring it forth to your values and beliefs. The strength that my mother showed me as a single parent in an impoverished community along with taking what you have and turn it into more attitude, contributed to the way I narrated how my peers and I lived the culture of hip-hop during a time which is now considered the “Golden Age of Hip-Hop”. How important was it for you to have attended a Historically Black College and University? What did you study? I didn’t understand the importance until I got there and started living the moments. Going to Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina was a pivotal time in my life. It got me away from the negativity of the streets of Newark, New Jersey as well as showed me that life was much more than just my neighborhood. It gave me a chance to interact with other people from around the country. It allowed me an opportunity to challenge myself in ways that were different than the challenges in my community. I studied Mass Communications with a focus on Radio and Television while minoring in Theater. As a black business owner, what are some key tips that you found helpful to sustain and develop financial growth? Dedication. Getting up every day with a purpose to be better than you were yesterday. Presentation. If you look good, you feel good and you will do good. Be an example for those you work with. Service. If you give the best quality of work to your customers for a reasonable fee with care, they will always return to do business with you. Branding will always help sustain your business. Using a tactic that worked in the entertainment world; I’ve found that the more popular you are the more profit you make and consistency with a good work ethic will always outlast talent alone. Resources and relationships will always help you grow. Never be the smartest person at the table. If you need something done in your business but lack the experience or expertise to get it done, bring someone to the table to get it done effectively. Tell us a little about 211 Media Group and the services you offer and why you decided to add a 501c3 extension to the company? 211 Media Group was created by a partner an I. I had a company that focused on all aspects of entertainment and consulting like audio recording, film & television etc. and my partner focused on art, computer graphics, and websites. We decided to collectively put all of our services under one umbrella with the tagline “Where Art Becomes Media” and 211 Media group was born. On our journey at 211, we started directly dealing with the people of the community, as well as the elected officials of the city, state, and county. We saw a civic need to get more involved in our communities and founded, 211 Community Impact with another individual. It’s a not-for-profit 501c3 company that impacts the community through grassroots programs addressing literacy, homelessness, mental health and wellness, and youth initiatives. What would you say was the single most influential factor in the decision to be a business owner? Ownership is and was the most influential factor. Being in the entertainment business and traveling the world has allowed me to meet entrepreneurs from all over the globe whose stories are different but their passion for doing what they love is the same. So I would ask myself, “what am I passionate about?” and how can I turn that passion into purpose and profit? That drove me to become a business owner. As you prepare to run for Councilman at Large in 2018 for Newark, New Jersey, what do you feel your voice best represent? My voice echoes the vibrations of my community and communities like mine. My voice will do what early hip-hop did and was intended to do and that is to be a voice for the voiceless, a voice for the unheard. Me becoming Councilman will mean we will finally have a seat at the table. Why do you think we see a rise in public figures in hip-hop taking on advocacy work and politics within the recent years? I believe we see a rise because social media allows us to see things quicker or as soon as something happens. It also allows artists or someone who represents the hip-hop culture to express themselves to the masses instantly. The hip-hop culture is a billion dollar industry as well as the new Pop Culture. People of the hip-hop culture have always been advocates of what’s happening in our communities and about social injustices. In other words, hip-hop has always been political. The question should be is politics ready for hip-hop? I’ve heard a quote from you stating “When people love their city they can change it?” Tell us about the love that you have for your city? The love that I have for my city is what I believe that all Newarkers have or can have. It starts individually. When you care about something or someone you treat it or them differently. If we as Newarkers did the things that we should do positively and progressively as individuals, we all would become part of the whole, doing what we can for the big picture. We can’t solely blame elected officials or the powers that be if we aren’t doing our part as residents. Why is there a need for change? The need for change comes from when you continue to do the same things over an over again and keep getting the same results. We all know that is the definition of insanity or at least it means something is not working like it used to or as you thought it would. If the people you are serving do not have a voice and cannot speak through those that represent them, then it’s time for a change. What can people do to fall back in love with their cities? The people have to feel included. The people have to feel like they matter. The trust between elected officials and the people did not get broken overnight so it’s not going to be fixed overnight but once they see that their voice is being heard, the people have to begin to do their part as citizens. To be loved, you must also give love. How do you deal with naysayers? I don’t deal with Naysayers. If I focus on negativity or on the things they have to say, then I am giving them the energy to continue and by doing that I will be taking time away from accomplishing what I need to be doing which is moving forward toward my goals. This campaign is not about me, it’s bigger than Dupré Kelly. It’s about the people of Newark, New Jersey who are tired of Politics As Usual. It’s about giving a voice to the culture. Your name says it all, Dupre “Do It All” Kelly, and we know you’re a man of many hats. What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling depleted? I travel or I go into the studio. Take all of my experiences that have become heavy and all of those things that have to lead to my depletion and I release them creatively thru song. • Artists on the Rise

The past few years we’ve seen a number of Artists rise to the top of the music world. From Lil Yatchy to Chance the Rapper, all the way to the revival of Frank Ocean. We’ve seen a wave of new artist come into the music scene, so here are a few that may continue their rise in 2018: Russ {New Jersey} {Steven Taylor Via Billboard} The hip-hop/R&B artist has been around for years, but 2017 has been a huge year. Entering this past year, Russ saw his decades worth of underground work start to catch momentum and gain traction. This collimated with the release of his latest album “There’s Really A Wolf”, last May. The album blew up and currently the songs Losin Control and What They Want have over 270 million listen’s on Spotify. While we may not see any albums released from Russ in 2018, we’re bound to get a few singles from the Artist and few features. Getting Russ on a track will likely be one of the biggest trends in music in 2018. Khalid {Texas} {Peter Yang for Rolling Stone} After releasing the single Location before September of 2016, this teenager from Texas saw his song gradually gain popularity. It was a product of the digital age as the song was shared from listener to listener. I found the song in late November before it had hit the culture. Although by the time he came to NYC in January of 2017 he had started making waves. Khalid, who was barely out of high school, filled the New York stage at SOB’s. Khalid’s fame has risen to star like levels. With nearly 30 million monthly listeners and nearly 900 million listens on his three most popular songs, Khalid’s rise won’t be from underground to relative popularity it’ll be from star to Super-Star. Noname {Chicago} {Via Artist twitter} The artist formerly known as “Noname Gypsy” is still relatively unknown to the general population but has quietly amassed a cult following of listeners. Her genre is listed as rap, but that title doesn’t fully represent the style of her sound which is unique and captures the earbuds. The mellow-tone music of her 2016 Mixtape Telefone is one of the more strangely mystifying projects of recent memory. Noname quietly mixes her way through 10 songs on Telefone speaking heavyhandedly about life, death, and Chicago. In a relatively slowed down version of her previous work, Telefone has made Noname a frequent at Music festivals the past two years. Odds are 2018 will be another break out year for the Poet/Musician who may have more music at some point this year. #Music #Russ
