United States Men’s Basketball Team Lodges on Luxury Ship

The United States Men’s basketball team will be lodging in style during the summer Olympics.

According to the New York Daily News, the team will experience The Silver Cloud, a 514-foot decked out boat fully equipped with NBA-sized beds, multiple dining areas, a spa, bar, cigar lounge and an open-air pool.

While a normal stay costs $13,000, USA Basketball and Olympics sponsor Cisco commissioned the ship.

The vessel will be protected by a bulletproof glass, as well as 250 federal police officers. There is only one entrance, and those who enter will be thoroughly checked, too, according to DailyMail.com.

The 196-cabin boat will be docked at Pier Mau in Rio de Janeiro, a slight change from the athletes’ village in Rio.

The main reason the luxury boat was chosen was because of the lack of quality of lodging in Rio; however, the last time the U.S. team stayed in a docked boat, they did not win the gold in the Olympics.

And, Carmelo Anthony deplored the use of the boat as he said he felt stuck on the boat.

Let’s hope the U.S. doesn’t fall into this trap again.
