On Saturday, October 10, Melanin Money brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders, tastemakers, and notable guests for an exclusive rebrand celebration in Dallas, Texas, marking the company’s next chapter as a comprehensive wealth advisory firm.
Actor, producer, and entrepreneur Terrence J led a celebratory toast honoring the company’s journey alongside co-founders George Acheampong and Carter Cofield.
The private gathering welcomed Desmond Scott, Ladarius Campbell, Christine Shine, Lauren Ashley, Richard Carter, Megan Porter, Crystal Nicole, Nina Orm, and NéAndré Broussard, among local business leaders and longtime members of the Melanin Money community. Throughout the evening, guests connected over conversations about entrepreneurship, financial empowerment, and building generational wealth.

The event came on the heels of a milestone year for the company. As of Wealth Weekend 2026, the Melanin Money community collectively controls more than $1.1 billion in net worth, a figure that reflects both the scale of the brand’s reach and the financial momentum building within Black communities it serves.
Co-founded by Acheampong and Cofield, Melanin Money operates as a financial education and wealth management brand for wealth builders of color. Beyond the content and community it has become known for online, the company works directly with clients through its Melanin Millionaire’s Club, offering wealth management, tax strategy, investment planning, estate planning, and insurance solutions. The rebrand shows a shift toward bringing those services to the forefront.
“This rebrand represents more than a new look — it reflects the evolution of Melanin Money into an equity ecosystem built to help our community build wealth and lasting legacies,” Acheampong and Cofield said in a statement. “With our clients now representing more than $1.1 billion in collective net worth, we’re entering this next chapter with a renewed commitment to helping 100,000 people build their first or next million dollars while creating generational impact for families and communities of color.”
The racial wealth gap in the United States remains one of the most persistent economic disparities in the country. According to the Federal Reserve, the typical white family holds roughly eight times the wealth of the typical Black family. Black Americans represent approximately 13% of the U.S. population but hold less than 3% of the nation’s total wealth. That gap, economists note, is not the result of individual financial behavior; it is the compounded outcome of decades of exclusion from homeownership, business lending, and investment opportunity.
Melanin Money’s stated goal is to close that gap by $100 billion while helping 100,000 people of color reach their first or next million in net worth. The company operates across four pillars: the Melanin Millionaire’s Club, its media and content arm, the Melanin Money Foundation, and a merchandise line designed as an entry point into the broader ecosystem. Signature programs include Wealth Weekend and the Melanin Money 100 Awards.
The Dallas celebration was both a reflection of how far the company has come and a look ahead at what it is building, with a growing network of entrepreneurs and supporters helping shape what Melanin Money describes as a legacy that extends beyond any single event.
