Chase Freedom brought out some serious firepower at ComplexCon, and the conversation was about a lot more than credit cards.

On Saturday, October 3, Chase Freedom hosted its Cashback Courts activation at ComplexCon in Los Angeles, bringing together Russell Westbrook, Lauren London, designer Jae Tips, and sneaker entrepreneur John Geiger for a live panel moderated by Lance Fresh. The conversation centered on financial freedom, self-investment, and the belief it takes to build something lasting, a discussion that felt as much like a life masterclass as it did a branded event.

Cashback Courts itself was designed to mirror the energy of a neighborhood basketball court, the kind of space where style gets seen and competition brings everyone together. The activation ran throughout the weekend and featured a live mural by artist King Saladeen, plus a limited-edition snapback and basketball-inspired hoodie from The Marathon Clothing, carrying Nipsey Hussle’s quote: “The Highest Human Act is to Inspire.” Surprise guests appeared throughout the weekend as well.

On the panel, Westbrook went beyond the game when discussing legacy. “My main goal and legacy are built on the number of people you impact throughout this life and journey,” he said. “I have three little kids, and I think what I leave behind for them is more important than what I do on the court. How they see me as a man, a father, and a husband is important to my legacy.”

London brought a perspective that immediately resonated. Asked about investing in herself, she didn’t go where most people might expect. “My biggest investment was never anything financial,” she said. “It was the discipline and determination to keep going. It was the books I read and my diet, how I replenished my mind and body and fed my soul. It was really about investing in myself and my spirit. That was my biggest investment.”

In a room full of conversations about money, she made the strongest case for what the foundation actually has to be.

Tips spoke to the entrepreneurial mindset that separates those who make it from those who don’t. “Maybe stepping into entrepreneurship, not being one foot in, one foot out… You can’t look at it like it’s stressful to be here, you gotta look at the reward… I just stayed down, stayed down until I came up,” he said.

The Cashback Courts activation was part of Chase Freedom’s broader commitment to bringing cardmembers closer to the culture they’re already invested in and at ComplexCon, it delivered exactly that.
