John Boyega is officially a father. Following reports that the Star Wars actor had quietly married actress and model Lashontae “Tae” Heckard, Boyega confirmed that the couple has welcomed their first child together.
On Instagram, the 34-year-old British actor shared an intimate update with fans, confirming that their new baby boy arrived a bit earlier than public reports suggested:
“Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now but thank you for all the well wishes. Also my sister is about to pop! Wish her well too! 🥰 Back to feeding this big baby!”
The announcement comes shortly after Boyega revealed during an interview with The Guardian that he had been quietly married for nearly two years, opening up about his personal life ahead of his BBC documentary Damilola: The Untold Story.
While Boyega kept his spouse’s identity private in that initial interview, Heckard, known for her roles in The Game and ATL, confirmed the news on social media by commenting under his post, writing, “Love and blessings to my Blessing!!!” Heckard also updated her Instagram biography to read “Tae Boyega,” going public as a married couple for the first time.
Reflecting on fatherhood, Boyega said the new chapter has been deeply fulfilling. “My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family,” he said. “I just want to make sure I’m present, I’m consistent and full of love.”
The newborn marks Boyega’s first child and the second for Heckard, who also has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship.
