Starz is officially keeping its foot on the gas when it comes to one of the most successful and enduring universes in premium cable history. The network officially announced a brand-new addition to its ever-growing crime drama franchise: Power: Legacy.

The upcoming series confirms the highly anticipated on-screen return of two of the universe’s most iconic characters. Michael Rainey Jr. is set to reprise his role as the calculating Tariq St. Patrick, alongside Joseph Sikora, who will once again step into the leather jacket of the fan-favorite, fierce distributor Tommy Egan.

Power: Legacy is designed as a direct continuation series set firmly in the present timeline. The narrative picks up right after the explosive, game-changing events of the Power Book IV: Force finale.

For seasons, viewers have watched these two characters navigate separate paths of survival, betrayal, and street politics across different cities. However, the events of the Force finale have officially set the stage for a monumental shift.

Now, Tommy and Tariq are officially reuniting, putting their complicated history aside to join forces and take the city by storm.

Executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson expressed his excitement about the expansion, sharing in a statement, “Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet.”

To shepherd this next phase, Gary Lennon is returning to the fold as the showrunner and executive producer for Legacy.

This latest spin-off officially marks the fifth follow-up series to the original drama Power, which was originally created by Courtney A. Kemp.

For the inaugural season of Power: Legacy, Starz has ordered a tight, eight-episode run. While a slightly shorter episode count than some previous seasons in the universe.
