Prime Video’s latest sports drama, Unstoppable, tells the extraordinary true story of Anthony Robles, a one-legged wrestler who defied all odds to become a national champion.

With Emmy-winning actor Jharrel Jerome in the lead role, the film captures the grit, determination, and triumph of a man who turned his perceived limitations into his greatest strengths.

Born without a right leg, Robles faced challenges that would have deterred most, but his resilience set him on a path to greatness.

Directed by Oscar winner William Goldenberg and based on Robles’ memoir, Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion, the film explores not just Robles’ athletic achievements but also his personal struggles and triumphs. From convincing skeptical coaches of his abilities to navigating the challenges of his family life, Unstoppable portrays a multidimensional portrait of perseverance.

Unstoppable features Jennifer Lopez as Judy Robles, Anthony’s supportive and outspoken mother, Don Cheadle as Coach Shawn Charles, a mentor who recognizes Anthony’s potential, Michael Peña as Coach Bobby Williams and Bobby Cannavale as Rick Robles, Anthony’s stepfather.

Robles himself serves as Jerome’s stunt double, performing some of the complex wrestling moves.

Despite being underestimated, Robles made history in 2011, winning the NCAA Division I Wrestling National Championship at 125 pounds, representing Arizona State University. His victory was interesting as it came against an opponent from the University of Iowa, a wrestling team that had initially rejected him.

Robles’ accolades include:

  • 2011 NCAA Division I National Champion (125 pounds)
  • Three-time All-American wrestler
  • Two-time ESPY Award winner, including the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance
  • Induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012 as a Medal of Courage recipient
