The NBA just got even more entertaining thanks to Netflix.
Netflix will release a series called Starting 5, following players LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers, Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat, Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics, Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Domantas Sabonis from the Sacramento Kings.
According to Netflix, Starting 5 is a 10-part series that showcases how the world’s best players maintain their bodies and balance their personal lives throughout a grueling NBA season. The series provides an intense, behind-the-scenes look at five top players, with James highlighted as the greatest player of all time. The show will premiere on October 9 — just before the 2024-2025 NBA season — featuring 10 episodes, each 45 minutes long.
While each player shares the common goal of winning an NBA title, they each follow a different path and are at different points in their lives. They are all trying to lead their teams to victory while navigating their own respective journeys.
The series is produced by UNINTERRUPTED in association with Higher Ground Productions and Omaha Productions.
This series will capture these five athletes as they work diligently to be great on and off the court while pushing through injuries and balancing demands of family and legacy.
At this point in his career — his 21st season — James pushes himself more than ever to stay the greatest player of all time while keeping up with the young guns.
Meanwhile, Edwards is on the rise in his short career, Butler continues to work arduously to ensure the Heat stay relevant, Sabonis works step by step to solidify himself as one of the best big men in the NBA, and Tatum works tirelessly to capture that coveted 18th title for Bean Town.
Some of these guys can be caught on The Redeem Team documentary about the 2008 Olympic basketball team’s quest for a gold medal. Netflix has also worked with LeBron on UNITERRUPTED on sports programs such as Hustle, Neymar: The Perfect Chaos, Naomi Osaka, UNTOLD: Sign Stealer, Rez Ball and Theo Playbook.
