DC Young Fly will host the new show, which is a modern twist on the classic format featuring a Black pop culture twist, according to Deadline. The network has teamed up with Jesse Collins' Entertainment and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat production companies on Celebrity Squares.

In totality, “the series will bring cultural icons together for 20 fun and spontaneous half-hour episodes," according to VH1.

The Celebrity guests include Babyface, Bobby Brown, Tiffany Haddish, Kirk Franklin, Bresha Webb, Luenell, Taye Diggs and more. The show will premiere at 8 pm on Tuesday, October 17.

How does it all work? Celebrity Squares will bring two contestants together to ultimately play Tic-Tac-Toe, and along the way, they will bring cash and prizes. The competitor with the most money in the bank in the end will advance to the bonus round for an opportunity to come up victorious with a $10,000 cash prize.

“We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Hartbeat and Jesse Collins Entertainment for this exciting new project,” said Tiffany Lea Williams, EVP of Unscripted Programming and Development of BET. “This show offers a fresh interpretation of the iconic Hollywood Squares format, with a focus on celebrating black pop culture. With DC Young Fly’s laugh-out-loud humor, it promises to deliver a fun and exhilarating viewing experience. We look forward to bringing it to our audience.”

Chief Content Officer of Hartbeat, Bryan Smiley, said having DC Young Fly is valuable for the company.

“DC Young Fly is an extraordinary comedian and we are thrilled to team up with him once again to lead this project,” Smiley said. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with BET and Jesse Collins Entertainment as we bring an exciting, fresh spin to this iconic game show format.”

Dionne Harmon, the president of Jesse Collins Entertainment, said the process has been outstanding.

“It was a pleasure to work with Hartbeat, BET, and DC Young Fly again,” said Harmon. “We hope the audience enjoys watching this series as much as we enjoyed making it."

DC Young Fly most recently had a lead role in the New Line and SpringHill feature House Party. In the near future, he will be in a supporting role in Amazon's new holiday film, Candy Cane Lane, which will star Eddie Murphy. The film will be out at the end of the year.
