4 Tips to Getting Better Quality Sleep
We are sure it comes as no surprise that getting high-quality sleep can be a game-changer when it comes to your health and well-being. So, how can you get better sleep to be able to feel better? What are some things you can add to your routine to change it up? Well, we have a few tips for you to try out to help you start feeling your best and getting the sleep you want and need.
Get a new mattress
One of the best things you can do for yourself and your sleep is to invest in a new mattress. Yes, they can be pricey, but it is worth it when it comes to your health. We spend a third of our lives in bed, and now maybe even more since working from home, why not be sure that we are comfortable and happy while in it? So, where do you start when it comes to mattress shopping? We think a great place to start is by figuring out what size mattress and what level of firmness you would like. Looking up mattress sizes and dimensions doesn’t have to be scary. There are so many helpful guides to make sure you are on the right track. Once you decide what size mattress is best for you and your space, you can decide on firmness from there. Don’t be afraid to take the new mattress step, the sleep you get from it will be well worth it.
No blue lights before bed
We know that putting your phone or tablet away and turning off the TV before bed is not an easy task to accomplish. But it is one that can contribute to sound sleep. Unfortunately, the blue light glow that is put out by our electronic devices not only adds strain to our eyes, but it stimulates our brain and makes it so we cannot truly relax. So even though we think catching up on our friends’ Instagram feed is beneficial to us, it is actually detrimental. If you can, put your phone down at least an hour before bed and if you want to take it to the next level, let it charge overnight in a different room, that way you aren’t tempted. If you use your phone as your morning alarm, invest in an alarm clock that will accomplish the task the same as your phone.
Block out any additional light
Once you fall asleep, staying asleep is always difficult. One of the things that can wake us up, or keep our minds racing while our bodies rest, is additional light in the room. Curtains can help to keep sunlight out, and if you haven’t already redesigned and upgraded to black out curtains, now is the time. But, if you want to ensure that you are getting no light in your eyes while you sleep, it might be time to start using an eye mask. There are so many out there so finding a comfortable one isn’t hard to do. Just be sure to find one that works for you and your needs, and you will be well on your way to getting the best and darkest sleep of your life.
Relax before bed
Relaxing can come in so many different shapes and forms, so you need to ask yourself what is something that works for you? Is it reading a book, taking a hot shower, listening to a podcast, taking some CBD gummies? Whatever it is, try and harness it and use it to your advantage. If you aren’t sure what is going to be best for you, don’t be afraid to try a few out and see which fits you best.
We hope that at least one of these tips helps you get some good, solid, better quality sleep.
