Oprah Winfrey to Host a Town Hall on Systemic Racism in America

According to Variety, Oprah Winfrey will be hosting a two-hour town hall on systemic racism in America after the many protests that have erupted because of the murder of George Floyd. The town hall titled OWN Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here? will be a conversation with various Black thought leaders, activists, and artists on the current state of the country.

“I’ve been having private conversations with friends and thought leaders about what’s next and where we go from here,” Winfrey tells Variety. “I thought it would be both of interest and service to bring their ideas, concerns and comments into a national spotlight.”

Airing on the OWN network and Discovery's 18 channels, special guests will include politician Stacey Abrams, journalist Charles M. Blow, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, filmmaker Ava DuVernay, professor and more.

Part 1 of the special will air on June 9, and part 2 on June 10.
