In an official announcement shared on social media by The Jacksons, multicultural streaming platform BLK PRIME has partnered with founding Jackson 5 member Marlon Jackson to develop The Manager. The Mythology. The Legend., an original series exploring the life and legacy of Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson.
Joe Jackson’s unyielding determination famously transformed a working-class household in Gary, Indiana, into an unprecedented global musical dynasty. Narrated and executive produced in direct collaboration with Marlon, the sixth child of Joe and Katherine Jackson, the series aims to pull back the curtain on the public myths and offer an authentic, intimate portrait of his father.
“Our father’s life was filled with triumphs, challenges, and an unwavering commitment to our family,” Marlon Jackson said in a statement regarding the project. “This series offers an authentic look at the man behind our legacy, sharing with audiences the remarkable father we knew and loved.”
The upcoming biographical series is set to take a comprehensive look at both the personal and professional forces that drove Joe Jackson. BLK PRIME has ordered an eight-episode first season with a commitment to continue the story across multiple seasons.
The narrative will trace Joe’s early life in Gary, Indiana, highlighting his personal struggles and the fierce drive to lift his family out of poverty. From there, the show will examine his management of The Jackson 5, the pivotal Motown Records era under Berry Gordy, and the groundwork laid for their global icon status. Guided by Marlon’s direct voice and personal insight, the series highlights the deep family bonds, high-stakes pressure, and unseen moments behind their rise to stardom.
As a subscription video-on-demand service dedicated to multicultural storytelling, BLK PRIME is backing the authorized series as a major addition to its lineup.
While pre-production and casting announcements will roll out in the coming months, The Manager. The Mythology. The Legend. is set to stream exclusively on BLK PRIME.
