Mindy Kaling has a formula, and it works. Take a specific world, a hospital, a college dorm, a TV writers’ room, fill it with ambitious, flawed, funny people who want more than they currently have, and let the chaos of proximity do the rest. Her new Hulu series, Not Suitable for Work, is that formula applied to a workplace in Manhattan, and the trailer just dropped.
The show premieres June 2 on Hulu and Disney+ with three episodes, followed by two new episodes weekly until June 23. It stars Jay Ellis and Nicholas Duvernay alongside Ella Hunt, Avantika Vandanapu, Will Angus, and Jack Martin as five work-obsessed twenty-somethings striving for professional success, and if they have time, personal happiness, in Murray Hill, Manhattan.
Ellis plays Bill Gibson, an investment bank boss, and Duvernay plays Nicholas, a medical student navigating the demanding world of medicine alongside the equally demanding world of being young in New York City.

Not Suitable for Work was originally announced in 2024 under the working title Murray Hill, a nod to the Manhattan neighborhood that serves as the series’ backdrop. The neighborhood is described in the show’s marketing as “Manhattan’s most glamorous,” which lands somewhere between sincere and satirical.
The series is created and executive produced by Kaling alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy, who previously worked with her on The Mindy Project and The Sex Lives of College Girls.
The recurring guest cast includes Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson, Constance Wu, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez, and Michael Benjamin Washington, all appear throughout the season.
