When it comes to stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, legendary actor Delroy Lindo knows exactly what he wants, and he isn’t afraid to put it out there. The veteran star recently revealed that he has officially planted the seed with director Ryan Coogler about joining the highly anticipated Black Panther 3.
In a recent February Cover Story interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lindo admitted that he has already pitched the idea of teaming up with Coogler for the next chapter of the Wakandan saga.
“I expressed to Ryan that if the stars line up, I would love to be in Black Panther 3,” Lindo shared.
While Marvel Studios naturally keeps plot details and casting for its in-development projects tightly under wraps, Coogler’s response to Lindo’s pitch highlights the immense respect the director has for the seasoned actor. According to Lindo, Coogler said if he were to bring him into the MCU, the role would need to be substantial and meaningful.
“One of the things he said to me was anything that he were to offer me, he would want to be sure that it was worth my time,” Lindo explained to the publication. “He didn’t say exactly that, but that’s essentially the sentiment. And I respect that.”
With Black Panther 3 currently in development, fans will just have to wait and see if the stars do indeed align for Lindo to make his debut in Wakanda. But knowing Coogler is holding out for a role truly worthy of Lindo’s gravitas, it will undoubtedly be a character worth waiting for.
