Michael B. Jordan is adding another accolade to his impressive career. The actor, director, and producer will receive the Icon Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for his powerful dual performance in Sinners, directed by frequent collaborator Ryan Coogler.
The ceremony will take place on January 3, 2026, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running from January 2–12.
In Sinners, Jordan portrays twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore, World War I veterans who return home to Clarksdale, Mississippi, to open a juke joint.
Their homecoming celebration takes a chilling turn when a dark, supernatural force begins to threaten their community. The film mixes Southern Gothic horror with emotional storytelling, marking the fifth collaboration between Jordan and Coogler, following Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Wakanda Forever.
Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised Jordan’s performance, saying, “Michael B. Jordan once again proves why he’s been one of the most compelling performers for the past two decades. His ability to inhabit two distinct souls with such power and nuance is nothing short of extraordinary. For this remarkable achievement—and for his impressive body of work—we are proud to honor him with the Palm Springs International Film Awards Icon Award.”
The star-studded cast of Sinners includes Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
Jordan joins a celebrated list of past Icon Award recipients, including Tom Hanks, Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, and Meryl Streep.
Beyond his work in Sinners, Jordan continues to expand his footprint in Hollywood. He is set to direct and star in MGM’s The Thomas Crown Affair and will co-produce and star alongside Will Smith in I Am Legend 2.
