DK Metcalf has had a whirlwind of a week. Just days after the Pittsburgh Steelers traded for the star wide receiver from the Seattle Seahawks, Metcalf proposed to his girlfriend, Normani.
The couple’s engagement was confirmed on Thursday, when Metcalf spoke to reporters during his official introduction as a Steeler, revealing that he popped the question Wednesday in Houston surrounded by their families.
Metcalf shared details of his proposal, explaining that he had been planning it for quite some time but had to navigate around Normani’s demanding schedule.
“I tried to last year, but she’s a singer, and her work kind of conflicted with the schedule,” Metcalf explained. “So I just tried to take an approach to where a schedule couldn’t matter. So I started sending her flowers with a story. And then the last letter on the flower was, ‘Will you marry me?’ And she said yes.”

The intimate proposal took place in Houston, during his sister’s spring break, allowing both his and Normani’s families to come together to witness the special moment.
Normani joined her fiancé at the Steelers facility on Thursday, proudly sporting a black-and-gold jersey with Metcalf’s new No. 4, as he makes the switch from his previous No. 14.
Metcalf couldn’t hide his excitement when speaking to reporters, encouraging Normani to show off her new engagement ring to the media.
“Hold that rock up, baby,” he said with a smile.
It’s only fitting that Metcalf proposed to Normani the same week he was traded to the same team his former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is rumored to be considering joining.
Back in 2020, Wilson and his wife Ciara played matchmaker, introducing Metcalf and Normani.
