White House State Dinner Frank Ocean and Chance The Rapper

What do you wear to the Obama’s final state dinner when the First Lady is dripping in rose gold Versace from head to toe? Whatever you want would be the answer singer/songwriter Frank Ocean would probably give.

The “Blonde” artist normally flies just below the fashion radar with his red carpet choices but this night he took a different approach. Ocean chose to accent his sophisticated navy blue suit with a cool pair of checkered black and white Vans. The choice of shoes definitely stood out among the evening of dining with political dignitaries. He brought his mother as his plus one and she stunned in a bright pink gown.

The artist has returned to the industry after a four year hiatus and apparently is doing things his own way. His fashion choices shouldn’t surprise us especially since the release of his latest music video “Nikes“. The singer wore a custom made Balmain suit encrusted with pearls. Bold fashion choices may be his new thing.

Ocean’s friend Chance the Rapper was also in attendance with his father as his guest. Chance is known for wearing classic pieces that any guy can rock such as baseball caps, white tees, denim jackets and black jeans. The rap it boy and self proclaimed nephew of Queen Bey kept it classy as he wore a black tux similar to President Obama.

Chance chose to accent his tux by wearing white suspenders. Old-man style suspenders are coming back in style and the rapper has been seen wearing them in different colors. The white ones are $25 from Tie Bar. Both artists made these looks their own. After this latest state dinner we can say White House functions have never been cooler.
