George Purchases 5,000 tickets for Indiana Fever Fans to Watch Catchings Last Regular Season Game

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George just put a smile on thousands of Indiana Fever fans’ faces.

George did the unthinkable: buy 5,000 fans tickets to see forward Tamika Catchings’ season finale. The Fever announced fans could buy as many as four tickets each for the season finale against the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

Apparently, George and Catchings are really close, as often George calls Catchings his “big sis.” George even said he switched jersey numbers from no. 24 to no. 13 because Catchings wore 24.

Both marquee players just won gold medals as members of the men’s and women’s national teams.

Cathcings just announced her retirement two years ago. Catchings, one of the best players in the history of the WNBA, went to 10 all-star games, won the championship  and was the finals MVP in 2012, was the MVP in 2011, is a 7-time steals leader, a 5-time defensive player of the year award winner and a 7-time All-WNBA first team.

She averaged a career 16.2 points, 3.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.4 steals while shooting 41.6 percent from the field.
