The USC Black Alumni Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, November 7, with a scholarship benefit honoring Byron Allen, JuJu Watkins, Capt. Melissa Ward and JaBari Brown, according to the USC Alumni Association.

The event takes place at the Trojan Grand Ballroom on USC’s University Park campus in Los Angeles. A 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception will be followed at 6:30 p.m. by dinner and the awards presentation.

Proceeds support scholarships for current and future USC students. The evening’s theme celebrates 50 years of “connection, leadership, and impact” while investing in future Trojans, the association says.

Allen, a 1983 USC graduate and the founder, chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group, will receive the Emé Visionary Award.

Ward, who graduated in 1986, will receive the Outstanding Alumna Award. The association describes her as a “trailblazing pilot and flight instructor.”

Watkins, the USC women’s basketball standout, will receive the Outstanding Student Award.

Brown, a 1998 graduate, will receive the Barbara Solomon Outstanding Staff & Faculty Award. He serves as director of undergraduate academic advisement and civic engagement at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

The benefit is co-chaired by Terri Holoman and Daniel Prince, both USC alumni. The association also points supporters to its “50 for 50 Campaign.”

Individual tickets are $500, with a $250 rate for young alumni. Sponsorships range from $7,500 to $250,000.
