Comedy legends Tommy Davidson and Tichina Arnold are joining forces for a brand-new feature film. The dynamic duo has officially been announced as the leads in the upcoming family comedy Search Party: Where’s Paw Paw?, which recently wrapped production in Los Angeles.

The project marks the directorial debut of Victoria Monai Richards, who also stars in the film and co-wrote the screenplay alongside Sherrie Richards.

Described as an early 2000s-inspired, PG-rated romp, the story follows college student Noble Williams (played by Richards), who rushes home after getting an alarming call that her PawPaw’s (Davidson) health has taken a sudden turn for the worse. Alongside her two best friends and her wildly chaotic Auntie (Arnold), Noble arrives at the nursing home only to discover that PawPaw has mysteriously gone missing. The crew is forced to embark on an unforgettable search party, following strange clues and even stranger characters to track him down before time runs out.

“I wanted to make the kind of comedy I grew up loving—something genuinely funny, colorful, and ridiculous that the whole family can enjoy together. My hope is that audiences leave the theater laughing, quoting their favorite moments, and making memories with the people they love,” Richards told Deadline.

Both Davidson and Arnold are currently riding high on a wave of exciting new projects. Davidson has a new series based on his Martin character, The Varnell Hill Show, which will premiere September 1 on Paramount+. Meanwhile, Arnold is gearing up to star in the upcoming Netflix reboot of A Different World alongside her daughter, Alijah Kai.
