Ryan Cooglers X-Files reboot is stacking its guest roster. Deadline reports exclusively that Hulu’s highly anticipated revival has cast eight actors in guest roles, headlined by Oscar winner Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi, and Ben Foster.

The new additions join previously announced leads Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler, who play two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond after being assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

The full guest cast also includes Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand, and Sofia Grace Clifton.

Coogler, who just took home the Academy Award for Original Screenplay for Sinners, is writing and directing the pilot and serves as executive producer under his Proximity Media banner.

X-Files creator Chris Carter returns as an executive producer on the reboot, with Jennifer Yale serving as showrunner. Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler also EP under Proximity Media, with Deadwyler and Patel serving as co-executive producers.

The series is an Onyx Collective Studio and 20th Television production.

Madigan became one of the most talked-about performers of the past year for her turn as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s horror film Weapons, which grossed $270 million worldwide and earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination, her first.

The original X-Files ran for eleven seasons between 1993 and 2018, becoming one of the defining television franchises of its era, a show that shaped how an entire generation thought about government conspiracies, the paranormal, and the nature of truth.

A premiere date for the X-Files reboot on Hulu has not yet been announced. Production is underway.
