Jonathan Majors is on a mission for justice in his latest action-packed role as Special Forces operative Vernon Threat in True Threat, according to Deadline.
Directed by Gerard McMurray (The First Purge and episodes of The Twilight Zone reboot), the revenge thriller follows Vernon Threat’s relentless journey to avenge the death of his teenage son, murdered by a Harlem gang known as The Apollo Kids.
True Threat centers around Majors’ character Vernon Threat, who embarks on a one-man war against The Apollo Kids by infiltrating their stronghold—The Carter, a massive 20-story project building that serves as their base. Battling his way through an army of ruthless gang members, Vernon fights to reach the top floor where he will confront the gang’s leader and his former mentor, Shallow.
Adding authenticity to the film’s combat scenes is SAG Award nominee Larnell Stovall, who is overseeing the film’s action design. True Threat will be the first major motion picture to prominently feature 52 Blocks, a dynamic and historically significant Black American martial art style.
Majors’ casting in True Threat comes after reportedly wrapping up filming for Merciless, another revenge thriller directed by Martin Villeneuve, last fall.
For the Magazine Dreams actor, True Threat represents a fresh opportunity to continue building his action star credentials.
