CBS has dropped the first full trailer for Watson, a new reimagining of the Sherlock Holmes universe. Starring Morris Chestnut in the titular role, the series offers a fresh spin on Dr. John Watson’s story.
Set six months after Sherlock Holmes’ death at the hands of his nemesis Moriarty, Watson struggles to move forward while grappling with the loss of the iconic detective. Now heading a medical clinic specializing in rare disorders, Watson’s quiet life is upended when Moriarty re-emerges, drawing him back into a world of intrigue. This time, however, Watson uses his razor-sharp deductive skills to solve medical mysteries while contending with Moriarty’s lingering threat.
Joining Chestnut in the cast are Eve Harlow (The 100), Peter Mark Kendall (Chicago Med), Ritchie Coster (The Dark Knight), Inga Schlingmann (So Help Me Todd), and Rochelle Aytes (Mistresses).
The series is helmed by Craig Sweeny (Elementary), who serves as showrunner and executive producer. Larry Teng (NCIS: Hawai’i) directed the first two episodes, with Chestnut, Sallie Patrick, and Dr. Shäron Moalem among the other executive producers. The show is produced by CBS Studios in partnership with Kapital Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to feature such a beloved character from the world of Sherlock Holmes at the center of this series,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Craig Sweeny’s bold new vision for the complex Dr. Watson deftly interweaves rich character storytelling with edge-of-your-seat medical mysteries.”
Watson will premiere on January 26, 2025, immediately following the AFC Championship Game. Starting February 16, it will air in its regular time slot on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes also streaming on Paramount+.
