R&B Veteran RL Releases His New Single "Another Night" To Show Us He Still Means Business
When I say R&B legends are coming back, I mean it! Now we all remember the iconic, smooth, and sensual sounds of the 90s R&B male group Next, and we remember the way they took over our ears. From hit singles such as Too Close, Wifey, and Butta Love, Next was one the hottest and most successful groups of that time. From that, Next member RL went on to solo success with features from Deborah Cox, Ginuwine, Tyrese, and many more. RL’s smooth and strongly powerful voice has been the voice for many years to some of R&B’s greatest hits.
RL is now back with a new single titled Another Night. This upbeat tune puts me in the mood of a classic Zapp & Roger song with its funky, classic beginning melody. The song talks about him feeling close to his woman and not wanting to let her go. The song specifically says, “I want you here with me, you don’t have to go.” In a previous interview about this record, RL stated:
“When creating this record, I imagined this creating the same feeling. I wanted to capture the feeling my idols used to give me (Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) when the songs they wrote and produced came on…That NEW Minneapolis sound.”
We got that Minneapolis sound and it sounds good to us. Ladies and gentlemen, RL is back and he is here to remind us that real R&B and real singing have not left the building.
Take a listen.
