Prime Video has officially unveiled the trailer for Love of Your Life, an upcoming drama directed by Oscar-nominated cinematographer-turned-director Rachel Morrison.

The film centers on Maya, played by Margaret Qualley, a young woman whose life changes course after a chance encounter with Charlie, played by Gabriel Basso, leads to a sweeping, transformative romance. When that future is suddenly upended, a heartbroken Maya leaves everything behind, throwing her phone away and starting over as a nomad in Portugal. It’s there, in the midst of rebuilding her life, that she crosses paths with Felix, played by Aaron Pierre.

Felix is a charming, magnetic British bachelor and father living in Portugal who becomes central to Maya’s journey of healing. As Maya struggles to imagine loving anyone after her past heartbreaks, Felix provides a grounding presence that challenges her belief that a person only gets one great love story in a lifetime. It’s a question Felix poses to Maya directly in the trailer, telling her, “I know he was the love of your life. But who’s to say you can only have one?”

According to Morrison, Pierre was actually the very first love interest cast in the film. “I had seen Aaron in Rebel Ridge, and I think everybody was just like, ‘Who is this magnetic screen presence that I cannot take my eyes off of?'” she shared in an interview with Elle. Morrison noted that each of Maya’s suitors, including Basso’s Charlie and Patrick Schwarzenegger as her college best friend Jason, was designed to feel completely distinct, with the goal of selling the idea that people can experience radically different, life-changing loves at different chapters of their lives.

The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, ahead of a theatrical release in select U.S. theaters on October 7, before arriving globally on Prime Video on October 14.
