Healthy skin doesn’t happen by chance; it comes from building consistent habits and using products that support your skin’s unique needs.

For young Black men, a simple, effective skincare routine can help prevent common concerns such as acne, dark spots, excess oil, dryness and irritation from shaving.

The key isn’t having a shelf full of products, but choosing a few essentials and using them consistently.

Morning Routine

A well-rounded skincare routine starts in the morning with three must-have products: a gentle cleanser to remove oil and impurities without stripping the skin.

A lightweight moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and strengthen its natural barrier throughout the day.

A broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect against UV damage and help prevent dark spots from becoming more noticeable. Even on cloudy days, sunscreen is one of the most important steps for maintaining healthy, even-toned skin. Night Routine

At night, your skin shifts into repair mode, making it the perfect time to focus on cleansing and hydration. Begin by washing your face with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, sweat, and buildup from the day.

Follow with a serum that targets your specific skin concerns, such as vitamin C for brightening, niacinamide for balancing oil and minimizing pores, or a retinol serum to improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Finish with a moisturizer to lock in hydration and support overnight skin repair.

Exfoliating two times a week can make a noticeable difference to your skin. Using a gentle chemical exfoliant, such as one containing salicylic acid or glycolic acid, helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, reduce ingrown hairs, and improve overall skin texture.

Avoid over-exfoliating, as it can irritate the skin. With a consistent morning and nighttime routine, young Black men can achieve healthier skin.
