Netflix has officially renewed Tyler Perry’s hit drama Beauty in Black for a fourth season. The announcement comes as an interesting pivot, especially since the streaming giant had previously billed the upcoming third season as the series’ final chapter.

The Season 4 green light comes before Season 3 has made its debut. Creator, writer, director, and executive producer Tyler Perry shared his excitement about the unexpected continuation.

Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry told Netflix’s Tudum. “There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”

While details regarding Season 4 are being kept under wraps for now, fans have an explosive third season to look forward to.

Season 3 follows Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) as she finally secures her seat at the elusive Bellarie table. Of course, keeping her newfound power won’t be a walk in the park. As a deadly family feud erupts, Kimmie is forced to forge an uneasy alliance with Mallory (Crystle Stewart).

Together, the duo will have to navigate a treacherous web of blackmail, buried secrets, and revenge as the family wages an all-out war against one of its own, a battle that could bring the entire cosmetics empire crashing to the ground.

Williams and Stewart will be joined in Season 3 with a returning cast, including Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Ricco Ross, Julian Horton, Steven G. Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitfield, and Debbi Morgan.
