In a recent interview, A$AP Rocky revealed that long before he and Rihanna became one of pop culture’s most celebrated couples, his mom was already planting the seed. According to Rocky, she saw something real between them before either of them was ready to admit it.
“She was always my boo, you know what I’m saying? Like, I always f****d with her,” Rocky shared, before explaining how persistent his mother was about the idea. “My mother used to say s**t like… I know you like this girl that you with right now. I ain’t going to say no names. But I want you with Riri.”
At the time, Rocky didn’t exactly see what she saw.

“It’s like, mom, why you keep saying that?” he recalled. “Yeah, that girl don’t even, like, want me like that. Like, we cool, mom. Like, that’s just my friend, chill.”
But his mother wasn’t backing down. “I’m telling you, she real,” she told him.
Looking back now, Rocky admits she was right, not just about Rihanna, but about timing. “And mothers know best,” he said. “I’m thankful that… she was put in my life at that time because I think any time prior to that, I don’t think I was ready for something like that. I don’t think she was either.”
