The holidays are about to get a little brighter and a little more heartfelt with Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy, premiering globally on Prime Video on November 5, 2025.

The film is Perry’s first holiday release in twelve years, following 2013’s A Madea Christmas.

Leading the cast is Shannon Thornton (P-Valley), who shines in her first starring role as Joy, a talented New York fashion designer whose career and love life both seem stuck in the shadows.

Finding Joy

When she follows her longtime crush Colton (Aaron O’Connell) to Colorado in hopes of a holiday spark, she’s met instead with disappointment, a snowstorm, and a revelation that leaves her stranded. At her lowest, Joy meets Ridge, played by Tosin Morohunfola (Run the World, Black Lightning), a chance encounter that changes everything she thought she knew about love, fulfillment, and what really matters during the holiday season.

Rounding out the ensemble are Brittany S. Hall and Inayah as Joy’s loyal friends, Eric Stanton Betts, Natalie O’Connell, Jeffery Thomas Johnson, and Whitney Goin.

Produced, written, and directed by Perry himself, Finding Joy mixes the drama and humor audiences expect from his storytelling with the cozy charm of a holiday classic.

Beyond the romance, the film leans into themes of self-discovery, resilience, and faith, offering audiences not just a love story but a reminder of the transformative power of second chances.
