The Morning Show

Apple TV+ is going straight grit in the upcoming fourth season of The Morning Show, and the newly released trailer proves the Emmy-winning series is doubling down on tension, politics, and power plays.

Premiering September 17, Season 4 picks up nearly two years after the explosive events of Season 3. The media drama’s universe is now rebranded as “UBN,” the result of a merger between UBA and NBN, masterminded by Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy.

With a more commanding seat at the table and a promise to reshape the network’s culture, Alex is entering a new phase of leadership, but not without resistance.

“New Paradigm or Glass Cliff?”

The trailer doesn’t waste time getting into the weeds. A magazine cover blares the question, “New Paradigm or Glass Cliff?” hinting at the scrutiny surrounding Alex’s new role as the face of UBN’s progressive rebirth. Aniston’s Alex insists it’s a “different company and a different culture,” joined by allies like Stella (Greta Lee) and Mia (Karen Pittman), as well as a few foes, new and old.

Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard joins the cast as Celine Dumont, a sharp-tongued media consultant who questions Mia’s idealism. “Nice idea,” she smirks at the company’s female-forward direction. “But it’s not sexy.” Cotillard’s character isn’t the only one throwing curveballs; newcomer Boyd Holbrook appears as a rogue podcaster who ignites both romance and rivalry with Alex.

Fresh Faces, High Stakes

Season 4 also introduces Aaron Pierre and William Jackson Harper to the ensemble. Pierre takes on the role of Miles, a celebrated visual artist who effortlessly navigates New York’s high society. Harper plays Ben, UBN’s innovative Head of Sports, a man with his own agenda as the newsroom grapples with everything from deepfakes to conspiracies.

The series promises to interrogate “the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America,” according to the official logline.

Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson, last seen turning herself in to the FBI over her brother’s January 6 cover-up, is back and not behind bars, though details are under wraps.

The time jump to 2024 leaves much to be unraveled about her fate and her dynamic with Alex. Their friction continues, with one heated moment in the trailer showing Alex accusing someone of setting her up just as the FBI storms the building.

Season 4 also stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Jon Hamm, Nicole Beharie, and Jeremy Irons. New episodes will air weekly on Fridays following the premiere.
