#MWM – Vetements

It’s Menswear Monday! In the fashion industry of today, there are a sea of designers making waves for the “nouveau riche, cool kids” of the world. However, none such are bringing the street to the runway quite like Vetements. On every young celebrities must have list, Vetements is an upstart of obscure Margiela alum and newly appointed Balenciaga creative director, Demna Gvasalia along with his brother Guram, and a few friends.

Since its inaugural show at Le Depot sex shop in Paris, Vetements has definitely brought a hip hop edge and boxy silhouette tinged with a Margiela-esque DIY vibe seldom seen cavorting down the Paris catwalks. Somehow its all so high fashion. Another intriguing facet of Vetements is its play on American pop culture, with hoodies displaying a photoshopped version of the theatrical release poster of the movie Titanic, showing Kate Winslet’s character with another woman as her love interest.
