This past week, FOX hit 3 cities hosting screenings for the upcoming comedy starring Lil Rel Howery, Sinbad, Jess Hilarious and Jordan L. Jones. New York, Chicago, and Atlanta were the chosen 3 cities with sold-out screenings.
In New York, podcaster and social media influencer Kid Fury served as the event host and moderated a hilarious Q&A with Rel and Jess after the screening. Also in attendance was “REL” co-creator and executive producer Jerrod Carmichael, actress Tiffany Haddish, “The Bobby Brown Story” star Woody McClain, Roc Nation exec Lenny Santiago, “Power” actress Shannon Thornton, BET’s “Grand Hustle” star Krystal Garner, and recording artist Azia.
In Atlanta, Dish Nation/Rickey Smiley Morning Show co-host Headkrack hosted the screening and facilitated the Q&A with Jordan L Jones, who talked about his journey from production assistant last year to now co-starring on a major sitcom. He credited his actress mom Ptosha Storey and godmother Taraji P. Henson as major influences and a strong faith in God for his success. Reigdrop Lopes (Sister of Lisa”Left Eye” Lopes), Brad James (For Better or For Worse), and Robin Dyke (Actress/TV Personality) were among the attendees.
In Rel’s hometown of Chicago, iHeart Media personality Tone Kapone moderated the post-screening Q&A with Rel, where he shared his love for the city, his determination to succeed in the comedy world and how he will continue to offer Chicago natives opportunities in entertainment.
Audiences in all cities laughed nonstop throughout the episode and shared their excitement on social media. A special preview of “Rel” premieres this Sunday, September 9 at 8/7c (after NFL on FOX). The regular season begins Sunday, September 30 at 9:30 pm on FOX
