LA Rams Friday

The Los Angeles Rams have just delivered a masterclass in marketing. As the team gears up for the 2026 NFL Draft, they decided to pay homage to a true cinematic classic. The Rams released a hilarious short film titled Thursday, which perfectly spoofs the 1995 hit comedy Friday.

The video stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker, who effortlessly step into the iconic roles of Craig Jones and Smokey, originally made famous by their respective fathers, Ice Cube and Chris Tucker.

The three-and-a-half-minute ad follows the duo, affectionately greeted as “Lil Smokey” and “Craig Jr.”, as they figure out their plans for the Rams’ first-round draft day. Jackson Jr.’s character perfectly sums up the laid-back vibe of the video: “Because it’s Thursday, the Rams got a first-round pick, and we ain’t got shit to do.”

The nostalgic short film is packed with familiar faces. The beloved actor Terry Crews steps up to fill in for the late Tiny Lister, hilariously taking on the role of the intimidating neighborhood bully, Deebo, who is apparently still out here stealing rings.

Fans are also treated to cameos from LA staples like radio host Big Boy, who welcomes viewers to “Big Boy’s neighborhood” to kick off the video. Rapper YG also makes an appearance, appropriately delivering the infamous Rams front-office mantra regarding draft capital: “Man, F them picks.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rams video without some current talent. Edge rushers Jared Verse and Byron Young, along with offensive lineman Kevin Dotson, all make memorable appearances in the trenches.

The project goes beyond just promoting the draft, it’s a love letter to the city. According to Rams chief marketing officer Kathryn Kai-ling Frederick, the campaign is a celebration of Los Angeles, its creativity, and its global influence. Shot at the exact same house used in the original film, the video recognizes Friday as a genuine cultural touchstone.

For lifelong Rams fans like O’Shea Jackson Jr. and YG, participating in the campaign was a natural fit that bridges the gap between a beloved classic and the future of the franchise.

As the video confidently declares heading into draft day, “this Thursday’s gonna make our whole season. And you know this, man!”
