David Oyelowo and Nate Parker are proving that they know exactly how to meet audiences where they are. Fresh off the release of their powerful psychological thriller Newborn, which tackles the harrowing trauma of solitary confinement and is currently streaming on their Mansa platform, the dynamic duo is shifting gears to dive even deeper into the rapidly growing world of vertical storytelling.

Mansa has just announced its highly anticipated Summer 2026 micro-drama slate, featuring 10 original short-form episodic releases that will roll out from May through July.

This aggressive expansion comes on the heels of the massive success of their early micro-drama offerings. Previous series like The Heiress, The Baller & The Secret Society, and Baselines pulled in 6.5 million impressions and views within their first 30 days.

The summer lineup is set to kick off next month with three brand-new original titles: Playing the Field, a female-led flag football romance rivalry; Love Contract, a high-stakes marriage drama; and Battle for Center Stage, an HBCU dance team romance.

“Vertical storytelling has already shown us what is possible when you meet audiences in the format they are naturally leaning into,” said Nate Parker, Co-Founder and CEO of Mansa, in a press release. “This slate is about scaling that insight into a repeatable system. We are building a pipeline where we can consistently develop, finance, produce, and distribute micro-drama series within our own ecosystem.”

A major key to this strategy is their in-house production arm, Mansa Studios. Designed for speed and scale, the studio is developing, producing, and distributing the vast majority of the 2026 slate themselves, while planning to license and co-finance about 30% of the projects.

By controlling the entire process from concept to release, Mansa can test content, gather direct audience feedback in real time, and maintain a steady, high-quality release cadence.

“This is about building an engine for storytelling,” added David Oyelowo, Co-Founder of Mansa. “We are creating a system that allows us to develop and release micro-dramas at scale while staying closely connected to our audience.”

From the intense, cinematic storytelling of feature films like Newborn to these fast-paced, mobile-first dramas, Oyelowo and Parker are building a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem.

Their 2026 micro-drama slate will span multiple genres and will be accessible to global audiences via the Mansa app across the United States, the UK, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, and Brazil.
