Usher may have mastered the art of serenading fans on stage, but even R&B royalty knows when to draw the line. During his sold-out Past Present Future tour stop at London’s iconic O2 Arena, the Grammy-winning singer found himself in a slightly awkward — yet viral — moment during the “Cherry on Top” segment of his show.

In a video now making rounds on social media, Usher can be seen playfully engaging with a woman in the front row. “Can I give you this cherry?” he asks, holding a bowl of cherries. But the smooth moment quickly shifted when he asked the fan her age.

“How old did you say you were?” Usher questioned. “Did you say 16?” The woman quickly clarified, “19,” to which the singer skeptically replied, “I mean, I see that you have tattoos. You might have a tattoo at the age of 16.”

Still, the multi-platinum artist wasn’t taking any chances. “Are you really 19? Are you sure?” he pressed. But ultimately he played it safe. “Alright, just to be safe, I’m not feeding you a cherry. I’m gonna let her feed you a cherry,” giving the cherry to a fan next to her.

The now-viral cherry-feeding moment during Usher’s concerts is just the latest in a long string of unforgettable fan interactions that have kept social media buzzing. Whether he’s serenading fans or sharing the stage with surprise guests like Craig David and Estelle, Usher has made it clear: no two tour stops are ever the same.

Just last week, an “auntie” moment stole the spotlight when a mature fan had a sizzling face-to-face interaction with the R&B icon. In the clip, Usher, shirt soaked in sweat, leaned in close as if he were about to kiss her, softly crooning There Goes My Baby.

The fan appeared to whisper something to him — though her words weren’t caught on mic — before he handed her the microphone so she could sing along. She then began to lower herself as Usher dangled not one, but two cherries just above her tongue.

While those kinds of spicy moments are part of the thrill of an Usher show, his quick thinking during the London cherry incident showed the veteran performer’s wisdom.

Choosing not to feed a potentially underage fan a cherry was the right move — and fans agree: better safe than sorry.
