Dwight Howard’s legacy will be cemented in Orlando Magic history. The franchise announced on Thursday that the eight-time NBA All-Star will be inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame on March 24 at the Kia Center, ahead of the Magic’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers that evening.
Howard, who played for the Magic from 2004 to 2012, was instrumental in leading the team to its second-ever NBA Finals appearance in 2009.
“Dwight Howard left an undeniable imprint on the history of the Orlando Magic,” said Magic CEO Alex Martins. “From being the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft to our trip to the 2009 NBA Finals, Dwight’s work helped us achieve great success during his eight seasons in a Magic uniform, both on the court and in the community. We are looking forward to inducting Dwight into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame.”
During his tenure, Howard earned three NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards (2009-2011) and led the league in rebounding five times.
Howard becomes the 13th inductee into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame, joining legends such as Shaquille O’Neal, Penny Hardaway, and Nick Anderson.
