A cinematic tribute to Tiger Woods’ unparalleled golf career is officially in the works. Amazon MGM is developing a biopic centered solely on Woods’ rise to superstardom, highlighting his dominance in the sport rather than his personal life.

The film, which has yet to be titled, will be based on Kevin Cook’s book, The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played.

Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, is in talks to produce the project. Acclaimed director Reinaldo Marcus Green, best known for King Richard, which chronicled the journey of Venus and Serena Williams, has signed on to helm the film.

The biopic will spotlight Woods’ historic pursuit of what is now called the Tiger Slam—his remarkable achievement of winning four consecutive major championships between 2000 and 2001. The film will also delve into his decision to turn professional at just 20 years old in 1996 and his rapid ascent to becoming one of the most celebrated and influential athletes in history.

Woods’ impact on the game of golf is undeniable. In 1997, he became the first Black golfer to win a major championship when he secured a record-breaking victory at the Masters. As his career flourished, so did the sport’s global popularity, with Woods elevating golf to new heights and inspiring generations of players.

At 49 years old, Woods remains one of the most decorated golfers of all time, boasting an incredible 15 major championship wins. His career highlights include five Masters titles, four PGA Championships, and three victories each at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. With 82 PGA Tour wins to his name, he shares the record for the most victories in tour history.
