Kia Folsom and Jason Cory McNeil Host NY Screening of ‘Harlem Blues’

Harlem Blues premieres at NYC screening; an intimate, emotional film about love, heartbreak, and self-discovery in Harlem.

It was a night to remember at the New York screening of Harlem Blues. Held at the renowned Maysles Theater and hosted by co-producers Kia Folsom and Jason Cory McNeil, the event brought together an intimate crowd to celebrate not only the film’s debut but also the artistic vision of its creators.

Harlem Blues is a short film that follows Kaycee, a fiercely independent woman preparing to leave her Harlem home for a fresh start in Los Angeles. Before she can move forward, she must confront the emotional baggage of her failed engagement and the relationships she’s leaving behind. Torn between the comfort of her past and the uncertainty of her future, Kaycee navigates love, heartbreak, and self-discovery in the city that shaped her.

This private screening was a special milestone—marking Folsom’s directorial debut and McNeil’s first foray into acting and producing. Guests were welcomed with light refreshments before settling in for a pre-screening presentation of another film from KiArts Productions. As Harlem Blues played, we were drawn into a deeply personal story—one that many can resonate with.

Following the screening, Folsom, McNeil, Keira Wesley, and Jazlyn Lewis—who also star in the film—participated in a Q&A session. Attendees had the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the filmmaking process from the cast, as well as from Folsom, who not only directed the film but also played the lead role.
