During his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Shemar Moore talked about the renewal of S.W.A.T. and the love he has for his daughter.
In early 2024, CBS announced that S.W.A.T. would be canceled after its seventh season. Moore, who stars as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in the series, has been very vocal about the renewal of the show.
“It’s all about money, y’all. They said we’re canceled, but guess what I don’t think we’re done,” he said in a video message to fans.
Fans of the series took to social media with the hashtag #SaveSWAT, demanding the show’s return. Ultimately, CBS reversed its decision and renewed S.W.A.T. for an eighth season.
“You made so much noise,” Moore said, addressing the audience on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “The powerful people at Sony and CBS heard you. And season eight is happening.”
While Moore celebrated the return of S.W.A.T., his greatest joy comes from his daughter, Frankie. “She saved my life,” Moore revealed. Frankie, who recently turned two, was born after Moore experienced a deep sense of loss following the passing of his mother.
“My mama was my everything,” Moore admitted. “And I lived my whole life to make her proud. And when she left, I was lost.”
While trying to figure out his purpose, he says that when his daughter came into his life. “And then little Frankie came along, and that’s what it’s all about right there,” he shared. “[Frankie] is the reason I’m so damn happy, and my girl Jesiree [Dizon]. “That’s my little baby girl. That’s my miracle. That’s little Frankie.”
At 54, Moore is focused on cherishing every moment with his daughter. While Frankie’s mother, Dizon, has older children, Moore is content with their blended family. “Whatever time I have left, I just want to give it all to my baby girl,” he said.
“S.W.A.T. is back, but more importantly, I’m back, thanks to my daughter. She’s my everything,” he said, his signature smile lighting up the room.
